Serengeti Safari Camp - Each year, this little camp casts off and begins its own odyssey. Covering hundreds of miles and moving every couple of months along a route that the herds have travelled for hundreds of years, Serengeti Safari Camp is where you come for your migration fix. The camp is effortlessly comfortable - a home from home, where guests want for nothing.

Serengeti Safari Camp has just 6 open-plan walk-in meru tents, with an en-suite bathroom at the rear. One of these tents is a family tent with two bedrooms and an adjoining sittting area.

The main dining tent sits in the middle of the line of tents, with the fireplace right in front and a separate libary/bar tent nearby.

Olakira Mobile Camp

Serengeti National Park

South/Ndutu Dec - March

North/Mara June - Nov

****

Olakira Camp sits beautifully in the middle of the luxury mobile camp category. Airy and spacious traditional tents with the fabulous new addition of a 'star-gazing' annex so that guests have the option to sleep out under the stars surrounded only by the mosquito netting (this is in addition to the regular interior tent bedroom). Plenty of comfortable soft furnishings to ensure that your tent is a welcoming place to spend a siesta or a couple of hours with a book or binoculars. Olakira has the perfect combination of luxury and practical authenticity. Fantastic camp staff always ready to cater to your needs; whether you have a question about a nearby bird or a request for an ice cold beverage of choice they are always on hand with a friendly smile.

Number of rooms: 9

includes 1 family tent and 2 triples.

Style : Under Canvas Mobile

Activities: game drives, bush picnics, sundowners, star-gazing, balloon safari.

Ellie says,

Recommended for those who want to be in the thick of the migration action. For adventurous spirits who want to camp in luxury a step short of chandeliers and bathtubs.

Alex Walker's Serian Camps South & Kusini

Serengeti National Park

South - Ndutu & Kusini - Mid Dec - April

*****

Alex Walker's  Serian Camps offer the gold standard in exclusive and authentic tented camps. Intimate camps with only 6 tents in secluded prime positions, mobile safari camping doesn't get any more elegant and comfortable than this.

Camp comprises of four double tents and 2 family suites (2 complete en-suite tents connected by a lounge tent.)

Mid Dec - April Serian offer 2 (practically identical) camps in the Southern region

Kusini Camp is tucked away South-western corner of Serengeti - prime location for the migration and a area heavily populated with cats.

The other camp is a little south of the Serengeti and lies within Ngorongoro Conservation Area; while still a great base for game-viewing this camp also lends itself to walking and cultural experiences.

For those with the time (and budget) a combination of the two camps would offer an amazing all-round experience - with even a little fly-camping thrown in for the really adventurous.

Number of Tents: 6

Style : Under Canvas

Activities: game drives, walking, hiking, fly-camping, cultural visits, bush picnics, sundowners, balloon safari

Ellie says, " Best in 'luxury' class for this style of camp"

Recommended those wanting authentic luxury and willing to pay for exclusivity.
