When to Go

The only months to avoid travel to Tanzania are April to mid-May due to the rains. Otherwise there is no 'bad' time to go - temperatures vary and the landscape changes color season to season, there are times when there are fewer visitors and camp rates are lower - these are usually at the tail end of the rainy seasons since there is still a chance of some rain although it usually arrives in dramatic beautiful thunderstorms and then passes along.

The chart below summarizes the main features of each month. The section on The Migration only applies to visits to the Serengeti and it should be noted that while the herds are constantly on the move all other wildlife tends to remain in their territory giving great game veiwing opportunities regardless of the location of the herds.

Price bands are a rough guide - rates can vary within each month depending on the camps used and any special offers available. The Safari Specialist is always keeping an eye on the best possible deals for you.
